Why isn’t the dehumidifier attaining the set humidity level?

A vast majority of consumers bewildered specifications displayed on control panel. As a result, the air humidity remains high instead of being reduced as expected.

In such cases, some users may sceptical about the dehumidifier quality. However, that consumers misunderstand technical specifications and incorrectly set machine accounts  for 70% of the reasons.

Hence, the understanding the technical specifications to properly use the dehumidifier will help you effectively eliminate excess moisture.

Indeed, the numbers set on the LED screen indicate the humidity level aimed to maintain, not the amount of humidity to be removed.

For instance, if you set the level on the LED screen to 70%, the machine will run for a while and then stop. Because 70% is quite a high humidity level, the machine only works to remove excess moisture until the room's humidity reaches 70% as set.

Meanwhilst, If you set the humidity level to 50%, the dehumidifier will run until the water tank is full or the humidity level drops to 50% as set.

Here are some simple principles if you use a dehumidifier at your home for the whole year:

·       -  In winter, you should maintain humidity level ranging 50-60%, at which your surrounding ambience becomes comfortable. Additionally, the humidity level helps eliminate static electricity in the air.

· - Conversely, you should keep the humidity as low as possible (35% or lower) during hot and humid summer months. If your home has ceiling fans, use them 24/7 to keep the air circulating. Moreover, ceiling fans also help you save significantly dehumidifier costs.

Noted that the higher the humidity level you set, the less moisture will be removed, and vice versa.

Ultimately, regular maintenance is essential for your dehumidifier. The periodic cleanse strengthens your dehumidifier lifespan and minimise electric consumption.

- Clean the filter regularly

- Clean the cold coil every 60 days of use.

- Clean the water tank every time it is full or according to a regular schedule (if the dehumidifier has a drainage system via piping).

- Prevent dirty water from dwelling in water tank, because mold and bacteria potentially nurtured under this condition.

- Do not reuse water from the dehumidifier or air conditioner.
